The Wine

The grapes were largely sourced from Becker Vineyard in the Koonunga sub-region of the Barossa Valley. Four generations of the Becker Family owned the small vineyard until it was recently purchased by the Hoffmann family. The vineyard is sited on deeper loam soils over red clays that follow a small creek that runs through the property.

96 pts - Huon Hooke (The Real Review) 'Deep red-purple colour with a graphite, ironstone and char-oak bouquet, traces of dark chocolate, the palate concentrated and driving, powerful and very long with great line and length. Tannins are fleshy and dense , making a significanty impact together with a high extract mouth-feel. Impressive balance: a serious and delicious shiraz.'

About the Wine Maker

Eisenstone creator and winemaker Stephen Cook concentrates on developing the greatest possible wine from one single area and one single grape type, Barossa and Shiraz, at a time when other Australian wineries are producing wine from a multitude of grape kinds and regions.

Cook secures special parcels of grapes from the ‘western ranges’ of the famous Barossa Valley which are renowned for producing fuller bodied, powerful wines with amazing depth of flavour and exceptional aging ability to make his wines released under the Eisenstone label. No more than 800 bottles of each wine are produced in any given vintage, each individually numbered.
