The Wine

Nero d’Avola is Sicily's stalwart red wine. This excellent, pristine specimen features robust flavors of dark plum and cherry, with a hint of licorice and spice. It pairs perfectly with game meats.

93 pts -Kim Brebach (BWU20) 'Best Nero I’ve tasted in years. For once, the blurb is spot on: ‘Nero d’Avola is the workhorse red wine of Sicily. This superb, squeaky clean example boasts robust dark plum and cherry fruit flavours with lick of liquorice and spice. Soft and velvety, a must try.’ Great drinking now.'

90 pts - Stuart Robinson (The Vinsomniac) 'Classic Sicilian variety at a very friendly price. Plum and kirsch notes with a herb and savoury edge. The palate is supple, lithe, hints of baked raspberry across the palate. True tannin profile, with a roughish edge that gives grip across the final movement through the palate.'

About the Wine Maker

Thanks to its unique location in the heart of the Mediterranean Sea, Sicily has always been at the crossroads of maritime trade routes and international influence. Feudo Arancio – the Orange Farm – cultivates two estates along the southern coast of the island, in Sambuca and Acate.

This respected winery crafts refined, accessible and authentic expressions of varietals native to the island. The carefully mapped vineyards are a tapestry of soil types, elevations and exposures, with each plot planted to the variety to which it is best suited. Bathed in intense sun and with a climate of dry winds it is ideal for the production of very enjoyable wines, representing the memorable, unique and authentic flavours of beautiful Sicily.

Feudo Arancio is passionate about sustainability and was the first Italian winery to receive the ECO Management and Audit Scheme certification for the entire productive chain (obtained in 2002). The creation of Feudo Arancio and its facilities was done with the environment in mind and every step of the production has been created in the most sustainable way possible.

The Feudo Arancio team aims to reflect the unique qualities of the island of Sicily and its longstanding history as a Mediterranean paradise in their brand and wines.
