Domaine Tempier Bandol 'Cabassaou' 2022
The Wine
Cabassaou is a small terroir named located in the lower part of the La Tourtine vineyard benefits from specific winegrowing conditions: sheltered from the Mistral wind by the headland of Le Castellet , a gentle breeze always blows up its terraced slopes while the south-south-westerly exposition ensures maximum sunshine. These exceptional conditions allow the Mourvedre (95% of the terroir’s production) to reach its ideal ripeness. The low yield makes the Cabassaou a rare cuvée. Robust and powerful with dense tannins, it often surprises those lucky enough to taste it: Cabassaou is an exemplary and rare wine.
On the 2022 Vintage
95-97 Points, The Wine Advocate: 'From a tiny parcel (1.5 hectares) of old-vine Mourvèdre (92-94%), with the balance a mix of Cinsault and Syrah, the medium to full-bodied 2020 Bandol Rouge Cuvee Cabassaou is impressively rich, concentrated and velvety. Marked by scents of tree bark, truffles and red raspberries, it's a wonderfully complex and balanced effort that should age comfortably for at least two decades. Drink 2024-2040
