The Wine

Cantine Matrone is located in Boscotrecase, in the heart of the Vesuvius National Park, facing the Gulf of Naples.

‘E Magliole is mainly produced from Caprettone grapes, with the addition of a small percentage of Falanghina and Greco from the Vesuvian area.

A part of the grapes are fermented together, with immediate pressing and fermentation without skin, while a part of the Caprettone is fermented alone with short maceration on the skin. A 12 month of ageing in stainless steel is followed and another year in bottle before the wine is released. Great drinkability, Pure Mediterranean energy on the nose. Yellow fruit, almonds/marzipan with dry and mineral finish. Glou Glou...

About the Wine Maker

Cantine Matrone is located in Boscotrecase, in the heart of the Vesuvius National Park, facing the Gulf of Naples. It is led by Andrea Matrone, who after gaining experience making wine in Australia, New Zealand, California, Sicily and Cilento, returned to his origins on the slopes of Mount Vesuvius, to produce wines with great respect for territoriality and nature. Their principal production is focused on two wines: Lacryma Christi Rosso and Lacryma Christi Bianco. It is a type of wine common to the area and produced since Roman times. Andrea produces wines which are aromatic, precise and complex, while retaining the unique terroir-driven character and flavours typical of this wine.
