The Wine
'Clos De L'Etoile' is 100'%' Cabernet Franc from a 1.8 ha site planted 1990 and is on sand over limestone soil. Destemmed and natural-yeast fermented with gentle maceration by infusion (no pump-overs) and aged on lees in barrel for 24 months before bottling with no fining or filtration and aged for a further year in bottle before release. A structured beauty that would suit medium term cellaring.

His whole range of wines have drive, and are regularly among the best wines in and around Saumur. The whites have remarkable finesse and are extremely delicate. Also, they are chenins that are agreeable young, which is sufficiently rare as to be emphasised. His reds are at the same level. Good vine age counts for a lot, his talent just as much.
