Fletcher C23 Langhe Chardonnay 2023
The Wine
From Dave’s new vineyard in the Barbaresco zone, a north facing plot of just 0.33ha planted in 2017. Due to the cool location, the vineyard is not very suitable for Nebbiolo, but Chardonnay can thrive here. This is the third vintage of this wine.
The '23 Langhe Chardonnay remains as refined as always. It presents cashew accents among its subtle nutty nuances. While sculpted, it avoids being overly smooth yet displaying a finesse that surpasses many of its Australian counterparts. A distinctive structure on the palate it displays bright flavours of grapefruit and lemon that merge with those of fresh stone fruits and melon. The flavours are pronounced but with the depth and structure of the palate balancing this perfectly.
It’s a sophisticated wine. If you you’re quite particular, we’d even recommend decanting this, serving it at ‘cellar temperature’ so to reveal its full beauty. C23 will also age gracefully and develop over many years to come, if you have the patience…. THIS IS PURE CLASS!
