The Wine

This wine is a blend of 85% Carmenere and 15% Shiraz, with 70% of it aged in French oak barrels for 10 months. It boasts a deep, dark red color with blackish tints and a lively dark red hue. The nose offers spicy aromas of ripe red currants mingled with tobacco, earthy notes, and bell pepper. On the palate, medium-bodied flavors of juicy red currants and cherries are woven with tobacco and dried herbs, leading to a spicy finish. It's supported by fine-grained tannins and a hint of bell pepper, culminating in an elegant and savory finale.

About the Wine Maker

Founded in the late 1990s by Gonzalo Vial, Viña Ventisquero has rapidly become one of the country's leading wine producers. The winery, located in the coastal Maipo Valley, acquires grapes from renowned regions such as Casablanca, Leyda, Colchagua, and Apalta Valleys to create a coveted, award-winning range of wines. The portfolio's backbone consists of Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Carménère, crafted by winemaker Felipe Tossa with the guidance of consultants Aurelio Montes and former Penfolds winemaker John Duval. Viña Ventisquero's wines are a testament to the young, dynamic, and innovative spirit that offers a fascinating insight into the varied terroirs of this vibrant wine-producing nation.
