The Wine

With a dark red core, black-tinted edges, and hues ranging from red to dark red, this Pinot exudes enticing aromas of violet, dark cherry, and strawberry, complemented by hints of anise, forest floor, and spices. The palate is overwhelmed by a powerful surge of dark cherry and ripe strawberry flavors, underpinned by notes of anise, dried herbs, spicy cedar, and forest floor. This ripe and juicy Pinot boasts considerable volume, a supple texture, silky tannins, and a prolonged finish.

92 pts - Ken Gargett (Wine Pilot) : Pemberton Pinot Noir, which spent ten months maturing in French oak barriques, 20% of them new. Pale crimson in colour, there are beguiling aromas of strawberries, cherries, delicatessen meats, undergrowth notes, dry herbs and sizzling bacon fat. The oak is well integrated. A savoury style with meaty hints, good energy and bright acidity. Enjoy now and over the next four years.

About the Wine Maker

Silkwood Estate’s focus on quality is of the utmost importance, with winemaking focused on expressing the distinctive varietal traits for which Western Australia’s Pemberton region is renowned.

Set in Pemberton’s premier wine growing region amidst towering karri forest, Silkwood’s 24-hectare vineyard is blessed with gravelly soils and cool, even temperatures during the ripening periods.

The prevailing temperate climate and cool ripening temperatures make Pemberton a premium cool-climate wine region. It was these characteristics that sealed the decision to establish the Silkwood Estate vineyards at this site in 1998, focusing on the flagship Pinot Noir, Riesling and Sauvignon Blanc varietals.
