Rouges Queues, Maranges 1er Cru 'Clos Roussot' 2020
The Wine
Clos Roussots is one of the two premier cru vineyards that dominate the eastern part of the village appellation. Planted in 1990, it is located above La Fussière and benefits from south/southeast exposure which ensures full ripening. The soils are composed of some gray and blue marl on top of the classic limestone & clay of the Côte d’Or. This vineyard is plowed entirely by horse to minimize the impact on the soil structure, flora and fauna.
Minerals are more prominent in this wine than others from the domaine due to higher elevation and thinner topsoil. The fruit is high-toned with cherry components melded with earth and minerals. Class act!
Bio-Dynamic certified.

About the Wine Maker
Domaine des Rouges Queues was established in 1998 by Isabelle and Jean-Yves Vantey. They farm six hectares biodynamically across 15 different sites in various appellations. The name 'Rouges Queues' or 'red tail' in English, came about by the 'Black Redstart' birds who are resident of the area.
Isabelle and Jean-Yves Vantey farm six hectares of certified biodynamic vineyards in Maranges, Santenay, and the Hautes- Côtes de Beaune. These wines are an excellent representation of good farming in Burgundy and showcase unique, expressive character of the terrior that is sometimes lost in the bigger estates. These are pure, alive and raw wines crafted with loved by this avant- garde couple that do almost everything themselves.
