Domaine Derey Fixin 1er Cru 'Les Hervelets' 2022
The Wine
90-93 Pts Alan Meadows, Burghound 'Top Value - A very pungent nose combines notes of wood toast and firm reduction. Much more interesting are the sleek, refined and energetic medium weight flavors that brim with minerality as well as a similar level of focused power that carries over to the youthfully austere finish that is both beautifully balanced and delivers the best length in the range.'
89-92 Points Jasper Morris MW 'Crimson to purple. A mild but temporary reduction, which does not quite hide the obvious class behind. This is beautiful on the palate, a couple of strawberry notes, with dark raspberry. Fully ripe, but holds together and finishes with a little Gevrey feel. At least half whole bunches. A little bit ill-disciplined at the moment but lots to play with. Drink from 2029-2035.

About the Wine Maker
Domaine Derey is from a lesser known village in Couchey, a village that is sold under the name of it’s better known neighbor Marsannay. Couchey is located north of Fixin and south of Marsannay. The Derey family has been farming these vineyards since 1850 and remains a true family business to this day. The parents, Pierre and Suzanne, run the estate with their 3 sons Maxime, Romain, and Pierre-Marie. The family uses traditional methods to work the vineyards and gentle techniques that respect the soil.
