Ocean Eight Pinot Gris 2023
The Wine
The vineyard is one of the most northerly on the Mornington Peninsula landmass. The top 30cm soil profile is made up of 20% sand, 65% silt and 15% clay. These silty loams are also known as brown chromosols and are defined by their moderate fertility and water holding capacity.
95 points Jane Faulkner (Halliday Wine Companion) "Pinot gris done well means it has texture, flavour, a certain level of complexity and a refreshment factor, too. All here, it’s honeysuckle and lemon blossom with wood spices, nashi pear and baked pears, plus lots of texture. There’s also oyster shell and slippery phenolics bolstering the palate, while bright acidity keeps everything in a straight line. Nice one."
