The Wine

A collab between Carto Wines & Ngeringa Biodynamic Vineyards = Ngarto

A blend of Pinot, Sangiovese, Tempranillo, Syrah and Viognier, all destemmed, co fermented for 5 days then pressed to old oak for 7 months. Cellared in bottle for 1 year before release. 805 bottles made.

A super fun lightish red, with subtle cherry aromats that combine nicely with intriguing forest floor scents. Super slurpable elixir best served chilled. Great match with tapas and charcuterie. Splash it about when the suns out!

About the Wine Maker

Carto Wines - As a chef, Brendan Cato's love of natural wine goes hand in hand with his ethos of working with producers who have a great respect for the land, sea and in creating the very best organic and sustainable food products.

In 2014, his passion for natural wine grew to experimenting and making wine himself under his own label, Carto Wines. Brendan has also completed vintages in Italy and France - with a cameo appearance at Domaine Dandelion Vintage 2023!

Brendan makes wine with organic handpicked fruit from a select number of vineyards in South Australia. Brendan's approach is sympathetic and straightforward - great fruit, minimal handling, wild ferments, ageing in older French oak, no fining or filtration, and only a tiny kiss of sulphur added prior to bottling!

Since 2015, Brendan has been travelling to the Adelaide Hills to help out his good friend, Erinn Klein from Ngeringa Biodynamic Vineyards. In 2018 the pair decided to make a wine together under the collaboration label, Ngato.
