The Wine

This 100% Grenache from from equal portions of vines planted on basalt and clay-limestone terroirs. The high-altitude basalt terroir brings freshness and aromatics, whereas clay-limestone terroir adds depth and spice. All fruit is hand-picked, the grapes are de-stemmed and fermentation is traditional with natural yeasts. The result is a fragrant red with red fruits, earthy notes and spice. It's juicy and well-balanced and goes down easy at only 13% abv. A nice alternative to richer and heavier Grenache-based blends of the Rhone.

The name of the cuvée is a play of words with the two names of Vincent, Manu, the partners behind this wine project, as well as a nod to Jules Chauvet, the Beaujolais-based father of natural wines, who used to call this new type of uninterventionist wine "vin nu" which means naked wine in French. These wines get no additions in the winemaking process, thus "naked" seems fit!

Can also take a chill - perfect Summer Grenache!

About the Wine Maker

Domaine les Deux Terres is the collaborative vineyards of two winegrowers, Vincent and Manu who decided to stop selling their grapes to the co-op and start making thier own wine together. Les Deux Terres means ’the two lands’, a reference to the unification of their two vineyards. Their winery is located in Villeneuve de Berg, a tiny village in the heart of Ardeche. Inspired by their natural winemaker neighbors like Le Mazel, Calek, and Azzoni, Deux Terres make wine with very low interventions and maximum respect of the fruit.
