The Wine

This really is quite an impressive Côtes du Rhône! - this is of the serious ilk, not a simple drinker. It really captures you and it has much to offers the senses, it also needs some air, I would suggest decanting to reveal it's best though it is also a wine that can be enjoyed immediately. This is aromatically intense, showing spice/garrigue accented aromas of dark red berries and cherries, with smoke and attractive herbal notes gaining strength over time. Darker bitter cherry and black raspberry follow, delivering much pleasure and complexity. Super clarity and lingering florality. I would put some in the cellar, this will surely turn into a real beauty. Andrew Guard

About the Wine Maker

Domaine Lefebvre d'Anselme is owned and run by Louis and Béatrice, now joined by their Son Marin, and is located in Sabran north west of Lirac. Production consists of whites, reds, and rosé within the Cotes du Rhone and Vin de France appellations, with the stand out wines their pair of ‘Trilogie’ Cotes du Rhone. It’s a blend of 50% Grenache and 50% Syrah, and is no ordinary quaffing Cotes du Rhone. Just above medium weight, it's the deft mix of spice and garrigue notes combined with lush and incredibly pure fruit that is so engaging. Natural indigenous yeasts only. Fermentation and maturation in tank for the white wines and in semi buried cement tanks for the reds. A minimum of sulfur is only added to the wines at bottling. A wine that provides pleasure from the get-go but will also build and settle into a great medium term aged red.
