The Wine

93 points William Kelley - Wine Advocate (Jul 2022) "Derived from old vines in Les Minots (that are a source for the Fèvre massale selection), as well as holdings in Roncières and Chatains, the 2020 Chablis 1er Cru Vaillons unwinds in the glass with notes of white flowers, crisp stone fruit and clear honey. Medium to full-bodied, satiny and enveloping, it's a beautifully vibrant, racy wine that concludes with a long, penetrating finish. It's the best young Vaillons I've ever tasted chez Fèvre. Drink 2025 - 2045."

91-94 points Jasper Morris MW - "Picked early. This is at a slightly different stage of elevage so is currently cloudy. Stones rinsed in lemon sums up the bouquet. Sunny and austere together, a mature terroir, steely backbone and finish. Bring on the grilled fish."

About the Wine Maker

One of the greatest domaines in Chablis founded by William Fevre in 1957 and its vineyard holdings include 12 hectares of premier cru and 16 hectares of grand Cru vines. The domaines fruit is harvested by hand, a rarity in Chablis, and rigorously sorted at the winery to ensure the highest quality. In recent times the amount of new oak used has been cut back and today the average age of the barrels in the cellar is five years. From the Petit Chablis to the domaines six Grand Cru wines, the quality is superb and the range from Domaine William Fevre is a benchmark for the wines of the region.
