This Domaine is one of the oldest in Cahors with records back before the French revolution. Philippe Bernede is the 6th generation of his family to make the wine here. Cahors is having somewhat of a renaissance in the last 10 years as people re-discover this fantastic gastronomic region. Famous of duck and some of the best truffles in France.
“Clos La Coutale consists of Malbec (80%) and Merlot (20%). The average yield of 45hl allows a good maturity and a regular quality over the years. The vinification is done in thermoregulated vats, regular punching down allows a good extraction of aromas and fruit. Clos La Coutale is then matured in barrels and wooden casks for one year in order to obtain a good balance between tannins and fruit. Absolute bargain!
